With the real world revolutionizing, when will our shows?
Honestly, do you think the US soap operas will survive another decade?
Even with COVID19 quarantine, ratings have tanked and even more than ever, people are no longer searching for an escape and are looking to take action in their community. Thoughts?
Soaps are institutions, we know this. The ones remaining are older than we are and the ones who died out were product pushing vehicles controlled by corporations. Is it a coincidence that the P&G owned shows died out as culture shifted ten years ago?
As Americans drift even further away from the mega corps and systemic racism ruling the world, what comes next for soaps that have been steeping diversity?
The UK has an even deeper rooted racism but many are speaking out from John Boyega to Hollyoaks fave, Rachel Adedeji
It’s 2020 and we’re still getting firsts for black characters. Eli and Lani are set to be the first black couple married on screen in 53 years of DAYS history. Do execs not see the issue here? Will they ever?

Across the pond, Hollyoaks is planning a special podcast discussing the BLM movement and further action is being taken by the show, one can assume there will be a future storyline incorporating this.
Camila Banus recently set Twitter aflame by cursing protestors, blocking black fans and ultimately not practicing social distancing. Steve Burton was paid money on Cameo to address his stance on BLM and just ignored it. Meanwhile, many other soap stars continue to protest and speak up.

Martha Madison tweeted that she sees all of the colleagues who kept quiet during this time with other stars co-signing. How will life be once soaps are back in production?
